I came across this study recently, which highlights the double disadvantage women can face in the recruitment process.
In a nutshell, the study shows that women who are seen as competent and ambitious are discounted because they are seen as having fewer social skills.
Women who are seen as competent, but reserved and modest, also get discounted because they are ing low levels of competence.
However, for ambitious men, perceived competence and interpersonal skills were weighed equally in the hiring decision
