Group Styles Inventory (GSI)
Like individuals, work groups have their own personalities or styles of interaction. Theses styles are reflected in the way that members of a group approach tasks and interact with each other.
Certain group styles are productive and lead to high quality decisions which individuals in the group are strongly committed to. Other styles are counterproductive and lead to solutions of poor or marginal quality, with limited group acceptance.
The GSI can be used to:
- Provide teams with a tool to measure change and improvement
- Create a team environment that encourages innovation and sharing of ideas
- Help individual workers develop consensus decision making and problem solving skills
- Improve the quality of decisions within an organisation by developing synergy amongst group members
The Group Styles Inventory or GSI measures the effective and ineffective elements of group process with the same 12 styles used in the LSI. The two used together provide great depth of information and a link between individual style and group effectiveness.
