Leading Change from the Middle

Understanding change is now a pre-requisite for leaders. The pace, amount and complexity of change will continue to increase. Whether those changes bring the desired benefits, get employee buy-in and are sustainable, depends largely on the change capability of the leaders on the ground.

Leaders in the middle of organisations face unique circumstances and pressures:  They need to:

  • get across the change themselves
  • understand the impacts on their team and customers
  • visibly support the change, which they haven’t usually played a part in to date
  • help their team members understand and get on board,
  • play an implementation role, and
  • make the change stick

…all the while maintaining their BAU responsibilities.

This working session covers tools and tactics for leading change, including:

  • the difference between coping with, managing and leading change
  • The two change processes – the one the organisation goes through and the one that people go through
  • What is resistance all about and which strategies are useful at what times
  • Communication strategies during change intensive periods
  • How to identify what to do next – a quick diagnostic

This session suits a group of leaders, or can be modified for a whole team

Typical length – 2 hours or 2 x 1 hour sessions. Can be run in-house or via webinar
